Nicola Lindsay came to writing late, after motherhood, nursing, teaching and playing the flute, growing plants, working as a medical secretary, acting, broadcasting and modelling.

After joining a creative writing group in her local town, she attended several workshops at the Irish Writers’ Centre in Dublin, where she studied with Greg Delanty, Gerry Beirne and Vona Groarke.

Batty Cat, her first book, published in 1996 was for children, which she wrote and illustrated. This was followed by a collection of her poetry for adults, Lines of Thought. She also recorded these poems on cassette. Much of her poetry has appeared in magazines and anthologies in England and Ireland. She also has five published novels.
